Dawn’s vacation

Dawn and family went to universal studio’s yesterday while Dad & I were in Malabar and Vero Beach.  We came back home today but Dawn & family are going to Venice Beach; she will update this while she is gone

1/11/08 – We traveled to DeFuniak Springs yesterday.  We left the house around 9 AM and stopped for breakfast on the way down.  We got here about 1PM – Central Time – we forgot about the time change so we got here early – check in wasn’t until 3PM at the hotel so we went to Pizza Hut for lunch and rode around until time to check in.  Susie, Roman, Edna and Ivan came over and we went to dinner after sitting here and catching up on a couple things.  Sure was good to see them – Susie looks good – sorry she is so much pain – maybe the test she is having done this morning will tell what is going on so she can have the surgery and stop the pain.  We are checking out this morning and going to Ft Walton where the test is being done @ 10 AM, then we will stay there for the weekend.  We are going to see Cynthia (Jack’s daughter) tonight after she gets off work.  Will update you tonight as to what we did today.  We love you – Cell phone service is on and off so keep trying – you’ll get me – as usual NEXTEL isn’t working right.  As soon as the contract is over – I’m changing to something that works!  Love ya – Mom & Dad

10/16 – We are in Marianna Florida tonight – we will be home in about 4 hours after we start in the morning – we were too tired to keep driving tonight.  It was good to talk to you Dawn, Frankie, and Devin today – hope everything goes well.  Frankie – try to be more careful – you still want to go hunting with Papa and you need to be ready.  Did you go on line and take the course you need so you can hunt?  Please do if you haven’t.  The roads in Louisiana sure are bad – of all the states we were in that was the worst roads! We drove through rain off and on today – sometimes had to drive with the flashers so everyone could see the other cars. We will see all tomorrow – Luv ya’ll Mom & Dad

Almost home

10/15 9:03 pm  – we are in Mississippi tonight on the way home – we will be home by Wednesday for sure – maybe even Tuesday if it doesn’t rain all day tomorrow again like it did today.  This is the first day we drove through rain all day since we left.  We went through a tunnel on I-5 in California by Santa Clarita and they had a bad wreck in that tunnel this past weekend – 3 were killed.  It’s spooky when I known we were just there a couple weeks ago.  I have mixed emotions about coming back to Jacksonville – I meet you kids and my little ones and all our friends but I loved it being on vacation and seeing all of the country – such awesome sights - I didn’t realize there were such beautiful places.  I drove across the Mississippi River today – sure was scary – narrow with semis in the other lane making it hard to see in the rain but I made it.  Have a great night. 10/14 – We are in Hot Springs. AR tonight – we spent the weekend in a cabin outside of Broken Bow, OK with Paul Mark, Barbara, and Georgie. Georgie is so cute – she thinks everyone was made to play with her. She is very devoted to Paul and Barbara, but such a great companion. We watched NASCAR last night – YEAH! Jeff won!! Paul made some great ca bobs last night – he also made breakfast for us both mornings. We had venison sausage – AWESOME! Jack caught a big fish Thursday – the day before we left for Oklahoma. It sure was nice to spend time with both of my brothers and their wives.. Thanks so musch to both for the hospitality and making a sister feel so special! – We will be home Wednesday then I can sit down and do 1 last update on our trip. We luv ya’ll – Mom and Dad

10/9 – We went to Jefferson today. Walked all around the town – it sure has changed, the Antique shops have changed – some are no longer there while the others have very little antiques left. Dad and Jack went fishing again tonight – they caught a few after Dad fell in the lake. He lost his glasses and got everything wet in his wallet. Jack found his glasses while Dad was taking a shower and I was drying everything in his wallet. Hope everyone is doing ok..

DD hope everything is better today, I didn’t hear anything from you so I guess everything is working out. We are spending the weekend with Paul & Barbara in a Cabin in the woods at Broken Bow. The same cabins we stayed at last time we spent the weekend with them. Paul said he will cook breakfast on Saturday morning for everyone but then he has to leave for a couple hours. 10/7 – Dad caught 3 fish today – 1 weighed about 4-5 lbs – it was a good sized bass – him and Jack went to Clay’s tonight and fished in Clay’s lake.  I think they had a good time.  Sorry I missed the race today but Kim kept me updated on the last laps so I know Jeff won – wish I could have seen it – checked Nascar.com and it looks like his daughter was in Victory Lane – she’s cute (just like her daddy)!  I have been doing Sudoku puzzles all day – we slept late was almost 10 AM when we woke up – guess we were tired!  Have a good nite – Luv ya’ll  Mom & Dad

10/6 We are at Jack’s tonight, it rained from the time we left this morning, through Fort Worth, Dallas, and almost all the way here.  This is the first time we have had rain that we drove in since we left Shreveport on the way here.  We have had a wonderful time.  We will spend a few days here then go to Paul’s for a few days, I have to get the oil changed again.  We have put 6,ooo miles on the car since we left – it was worth it though.  I will update as soon as I can. 10/5 – We are right outside of Fort Worth tonight – we will be back in Lone Star Saturday – about noon maybe a little later.  We were just drivng today, I talked to Bambi and Stephanie from Citi – seems like there have been a lot of changes since I left.   I guess it’s getting close to time to go back home – vacation is about over – I will update more tomorrow night.  Luv ya -Mom

10/04 – We are in Odessa Texas tonight.  We are now only 1 hour behind home time – We’ve lost 2 hours within 2 days!  DD thanks for letting me know about Devin – Let him know “Mom” loves him and so does PaPaw.  Give all 3 a hug from us!  We love all of them – I do miss my little ones!  Blair – tell Caleb we were asking about him and can’t wait to see him again.  Kim, thanks for your help when I need it, I hope I didn’t get you in trouble at work!  Give Evan as hug for us.  I’ll try not to bother you except on the weekends. 

We started out to Carlsbad Caverns today – we went through White Sands Missile range and through mountains – such beautiful scenery – we took so long we missed Carlsbad – they closed at 3:30 – too early – oh well we’ve seen a lot of caverns anyway.  We drove to I-20 in Texas – Pecos – the speed limit on the Interstate is 80 so I set my cruise control on 83 – guess what a Texas State Trooper pulled me over and gave me a warning about my speed – 3 miles over?? If he would have stopped me about 1/2 hour before I was going 95 and 100 miles an hour so I guess I can’t complain.  Have a great nite – Luv y’all – Mom & Dad
